This may be the oldest cup jock in my collection. The Mitre groin guard had a metal cup covered with leather. The upper portion of the guard is heavy canvas with grommetted air holes. Padding around the edges are also leather-covered. It was likely used for ice hockey. |

Protex hockey player's jock. Made in Guelph, Canada, it has a magnesium cup dated 1935. Instead of having rubber around the outside rim, the cup has a strip of wool material hand-stitched to the cup. The jock itself, dated 1938, has a snap closure on the pouch. |
